How this site works

An open map of sourced connections between people, organizations, places and events: 378 entries and 742 links so far, each with its sources.

Every link shows its proof

Each link names its sources and how strong the strongest one is:

Primary record
Filings, court records, official archives and publications; the text itself for 'the text says' claims.
Scholarship & press
Peer-reviewed work, reference works, established newspapers and broadcasters.
Self-published
Allowed only for a subject's statements about itself.

And it says how settled it is:

According to …
One side's account, not established fact. Accounts sit side by side, none ranked first, each quoting only its own words.
Both sides agree
Records from opposing sides confirm it.
Disputed
Shown apart, with the reason, and never counted.
Being verified
Not yet checked against its sources; never counted.

A withdrawn link is never used. It stays listed, marked, on its entry's own page.

A connection is not evidence of wrongdoing

A link says that two things are connected and how we know. It does not say why, that anyone meant anything by it, or that anyone did wrong.

The questions you can ask

Each answer page says what it shows and what it does not.

How routes are ranked

Shorter routes through well-backed links come first. Links that rest on weaker sources, and steps through very connected hubs, count as longer, so the most specific routes rise to the top. The rule is public and versioned (methodology 0.3). Links that are one side's account of who gained or lost never become steps in a route.

Families

Family ties are shown only for public figures in their public roles, and only with a primary record or two independent sources. No minors, and no relatives without a public role.

Something missing or wrong?

Every page links to the file it comes from. Propose a source or a correction with a pull request to that file on GitHub, or tell us in an issue. Every change is reviewed, and every page keeps its history.
