Operation Anadyr was the Soviet General Staff’s code name for the secret 1962 deployment of nuclear-capable missiles, aircraft and troops to Cuba, agreed by Nikita Khrushchev and Fidel Castro in July 1962. Its discovery by the United States began the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The name, after a river and town in the Soviet Far North, was chosen to hide the destination.
