  • 1838 sale of 272 enslaved people by the Maryland Jesuits 1838The Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus sold 272 enslaved people in 1838; proceeds went to the Province and were used to pay off debts at Georgetown.
  • 1887 attempt on the life of Alexander III 13 Mar 1887 – 20 May 1887The failed attempt by members of the Terrorist Faction of People's Will to kill Emperor Alexander III in St Petersburg; they were arrested on 1 (13) March 1887, and five, including Alexander Ulyanov, were hanged on 8 (20) May.
